Annual Lawrence Family Christmas Party
On Saturday, December 5th we had our Annual Family Christmas Party. This party is held every year always on the 1st Saturday of the month. It is a great family tradition that has been going on for 50 plus years. Some of the party aspects have changed as the family as grown, such as we used to hold the party in someones home. I remember when it was in the homes the kids would go and put on a singing program of various Christmas songs (probably the only time some of us sang in front of anyone), then when we left we each of the kids got a sock with goodies. The adults had what was called the "Goodie" box were everyone brought and goodie to share with everyone over the age of 18. The boxes were decorated and one of the favorite treats to get in the box was My Aunt Marvel's divinity (no one made it better). As we got more children we started to have Santa visit with a special gift that had been hand picked for us by either Grandma Allene or Aunt Marvel. This is the party that gets the holiday season going. We have a lot of great food, awesome conversations and of course, we always get to let Santa know what we want for Christmas.
Here Robert is telling a story about Uncle Dan and his famous juices. It is fun to hear the stories of those who started this tradition back when Aunt Helen, Grandma Allene, Aunt Marvel and Uncle Deane when they all had young families and thought it was important to keep the families together.
